In March 2009, the Town Board of the Town of New Castle retained Saccardi & Schiff Inc., a White Plains-based planning and development consulting firm, to prepare an alternative reuse study for the Reader’s Digest corporate site. The subject property is an approximately ±115-acre site located along New York State Route 117 to the north of the Chappaqua downtown hamlet center. The purpose of the study was to evaluate potential public uses for this property that would be appropriate given planning, design, engineering, and economic considerations, consistent with Town objectives and the property owner’s need to reuse the site in an economically viable manner.
Supervisor Barbara Gerrard believes the public would be interested in reading New York City's Department of Environmental Protection's response to the Chappaqua Crossing Draft Environmental Impact Statement, dated June 23, 2009.
